Jkath Design Build + Reinvent
If you’re interested in artisan custom closets, look no further than our 2021 “Artisan Home Tour Dream Home” project in Minneapolis for Jkath Design + Build. We did all the bedroom closets in the entire house and an office closet.
We pursued clean lines, maximized organization, and chose finishes that reflected the style of our client. In the first closet we chose a white finish that takes advantage of the natural light flooding in keeps the space bright.
Our shelves are adjustable to adapt to the changes of seasons and uses. This walk in closet also boasts plenty of hanging rods in a nickel finish.
Our next artisan custom closet is a unique double door closet in the office. With plenty of drawers for filing and office supplies, we created this one to shine.
Take note of the dark brass hardware that transition with ease between the room itself and the interior of the closet. With access to this closet, your office will always stay clutter free.
This next walk in closet is a true gem. Not only is there a client-specific ratio of drawers to shelving to space for hanging, but the star of the show!— a gorgeous coat and dress closet complete with a cedar interior. We finished it off with matte gold pulls and a light fixture to match, tying it all together.
Mikan Custom Homes
This Artisan Home Tour is another can’t-miss. In 2024, we completed a beautiful primary closet, two secondary closets and a garage space for Mikan Custom Homes that will have your jaw on the floor.
Let’s start with the primary walk in closet. This one truly epitomizes artisan custom closets. Closed shelving with glass panes keeps the dust out while not limiting visibility.
Interior lights upgrades the ambiance but also the functionality. We added luxurious amenities such as an in-closet washer/dryer and garment steamer.
With a clean counter space that can double as a folding station, start to finish is in one place. Lastly, we completed the mood with a dark masculine finish and a pair of elk antlers. You won’t find a better example of artisan custom closets than this beauty.
Another closet on our Artisan Home Tour is a secondary closet conveniently tucked away. We chose a sleek and subdued gray finish, also with matte gold pulls. We managed to get the best of both worlds into a small space — drawers, counter space, and both closed and open shelving. Naturally, we topped it all off with the perfect interior lighting.
Next up: a garage to make all other garages jealous. We crafted the perfect custom garage space — plenty of drawers and cabinetry to hold every tool, spare nut and bolt. As befitting a garage, we kept everything raised off the floor to accommodate weather.
With plenty of counter space, there is no shortage of room to work on multiple projects at once. And if you wanted to have a little fun, we’ve got you covered. A mounted flat screen completes the work space so you can catch the game at the same time. All you need now is a drink fridge.

If you thought you’d seen the scope of artisan custom closets, think again. This 2023 Artisan Home Tour project coming out of Edina, from construction2style, is a must see. We did a massive amount of closets for this project but lets take a look at a few.
First, we have this adorable walk in closet for baby’s nursery. We made shelving that can host it all from tiny clothes to baskets for diapers and cream for those late night changes.
Behind our hanging rods is hidden space, perfect for storage for those next stage clothes and accessories. The interior of the closet also compliments the light and airy feel of the nursery itself — the perfect atmosphere for little hearts and minds to flourish.
Next, we have another grand walk in closet that is an aesthetic experience in its own right. With natural light and demure colors, this gorgeous closet lets the items shine. Whether its cashmere sweaters or a hat collection on display, this artisan custom closet oozes coziness and style.
We’ll try not to act too excited over this last one. A walk in closet just off the primary bath, with a next level pull out shoe display.
In addition to the clothes trays, we installed a hidden clothes hamper to keep your floor clean between loads of laundry. The light toned interior contrasts well with the moody bathroom, and gives you the blank palette you need to throw together the perfect outfit.
