If you attended the fall Parade of Homes in Prior Lake, Minnesota you might still be picking your jaw up off the floor. Mikan Custom Homes’ latest project wowed visitors with its luxurious design and attention to detail, and we’re proud to have partnered with them on a centerpiece feature—as we were given the honor of installing our custom cabinetry.
This high-end luxury home needed a closet that matched its opulence, and we delivered a design that didn’t disappoint. Let’s take a closer look at what makes this custom creation so swoon-worthy.
Masculine Energy
Who says walk-in closets are only for women? This custom closet dispels that myth with its masculine energy. It features dark (yet warm) gray walls and cabinetry, complemented by an impressive rack of elk antlers as a central art piece.
To complete the mood, Mikan Custom Homes painted the ceilings the same hue as the walls. Despite its rich tones, the space feels open and airy, thanks to two expansive windows and light white oak flooring.
Luxurious Details
To enhance the closet’s luxurious appeal, we opted for a combination of shaker door and slab front drawer faces, adorned with handsome honey bronze pulls. A stately leather bench with gold hardware matches these pulls, providing a perfect place to pause and admire the surroundings.
We added in a fur pillow to work in tandem with the antlers to give the subtle suggestion of a hunting lodge. Velvet-lined drawers also add an extra touch, perfect for storing delicate accessories.
Laundry Room Convenience
Say goodbye to those cumbersome trips up and down the stairs to do laundry! This custom closet is equipped with a built-in washer and dryer, making life 100 times easier.
The central counter space also doubles as a convenient laundry folding station, offering ample room to sort and fold your clothes while maintaining an organized look. This design beautifully blends functionality with elegance, transforming a mundane task into an effortless experience. With this setup, you save time and energy, allowing you to enjoy more of your day.
Dramatic Lighting
Lighting is key to creating a captivating space, and this closet is no exception. Canned lighting gives the room a dramatic yet functional feel, casting a warm glow that enhances the overall atmosphere.
Meanwhile, strip lighting within the cabinets is strategically placed to showcase your favorite pieces, providing a soft illumination. Each element of the closet is thoughtfully illuminated to create a cohesive and inviting environment.
The focal point of the room—the impressive elk antlers—is literally in the spotlight, ensuring it stands out as a magnificent centerpiece.
